DFM strives to be as accessible as we can to everyone that visits. Please review this information if you have special needs.
The Denver Firefighters Museum holds the safety of its staff, volunteers, and visitors as a top priority. Unfortunately, this means that we occasionally need to make the difficult decision to close the museum due to circumstances like inclement weather.
We deeply apologize for any inconveniences these types of closures may cause our visitors. We do not take closing the museum lightly. We will always post notice of closures here on our website and on our Facebook and Instagram as quickly as possible. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.
Please reach us at visitorservices@denverfirefightersmuseum.org or call the museum at (303) 892-1436 if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes! We accept credit, debit, and cash. We no longer offer online tickets. All admissions are sold via in-museum payment or through a library pass. We do not accept bills over $50.
We are so excited to partner with local library districts to offer free admission passes to library card holders. Once you have reserved your pass (Culture Pass, Adventure Pass, Exploration Pass, etc.) through your local library, you will receive an email with your reservation information (library district, date reserved, etc.). Please present this email (printed or digitally on your phone) to our museum staff at the admission desk when you check in. Each pass is limited to 4 people and for general admission only. Library passes may not be used for museum programs or events.
Please note: Library passes are intended for family-use only. The museum only accepts one library pass (good for up to 4 people) per group. If you are planning to bring a group to visit the Museum, please make sure to reserve your time and date with the Education and Outreach Coordinator by emailing educator@denverfirefightersmuseum.org.
No, the museum does not currently participate in EBT discounts or Denver's Five by Five program. The museum only offers free admission through library passes and select free passes donated to other nonprofits for fundraising efforts.
Yes! We have several areas for children to interact throughout both floors of the museum. Please navigate to the "For Kids!" page on our website using the menu. The first section, "Interactive Exhibits in the Museum" gives you a sneak peek!
Eating or drinking anything other than water with a lid is not allowed in the exhibits or restrooms at the museum. There is a small bench at the front of the museum for snack and bottle time, however there is nowhere for a group of visitors to eat lunch at the museum. And the museum does not have any food or drink items for sale.
If you are looking for a spot to eat lunch, please check out Republic Plaza north of the museum on Tremont and 16th Street or Civic Center Park south of the museum along Colfax for picnic areas. Restaurants close to the museum include Dozens, Yardhouse, and many spots located along 16th Street, Broadway, or Lincoln.
Yes, you can absolutely bring your stroller in with you. The first floor exhibits are stroller-friendly, but the Museum does not have elevator access to the second floor exhibits due to our nature as a historic building. When you are ready to leave your stroller behind, Museum staff will ask for you to park it in front of a white bay door at the front of the first floor. Staff will keep an eye on the stroller while you continue to explore the Museum.
Unfortunately, we do not offer parking at the Museum for visitors. There are several metered parking spots along Tremont Place and paid parking lots near the Museum.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer trades through the museum. All gift shop items including patches, challenge coins, and shirts are sold to support the museum. If you are interested in trading, please reach out to Denver Fire Department stations.
No, the museum does not require advance reservations for general visitors.
If you are looking for a tour for 10 people or more for a school, children's or adult day care, school camp, or summer camp please email educator@denverfirefightersmuseum.org for a quote and to reserve your time at least 2 weeks in advance. You can learn more about the Museum's Field Trip and Group Tour program by navigating to the "Learn with Us!" page through the website menu.
