Museum Collections

Interested in Donating to the Collection?

Thank you for considering the Denver Firefighters Museum as a repository for your firefighting possessions! We rely on generous donors to build our permanent collection and help us preserve and share the history of firefighting in the Denver area.

DONATION CONSIDERATIONS

The museum collects artifacts, photographs, and archival materials that help interpret the history of firefighting in Denver, Colorado. The highest priority is given to items with a clear and specific association to some significant aspect of Denver firefighting. In order to be considered for acceptance, an item must fit within the following criteria. The item(s) must:

  • Contribute to the interpretation and understanding of the history and material culture of firefighting in Denver.
  • Be in good physical condition.
  • Be sufficiently complete to convey historical information.
  • Either be Denver-related, to help meet the needs of the Museum’s mission, or be otherwise useful for research or interpretive purposes.
  • Be offered free and clear, with no restrictions to the Museum and with the present owner(s) having clear title to the materials being offered.

If you are interested in donating items to the Denver Firefighters Museum collection, please contact the DFM Collections Department: Collections@denverfirefightersmuseum.org

You will then be asked to fill out an Items for Consideration Form and return it to the museum either by mail or email. This form helps our staff further determine if your items are a good fit for our collection. After your submission of the completed form, the museum staff will contact you to follow up. Please be advised that the museum cannot provide appraisals. Additionally, we are unable to review potential donations without a completed Items for Consideration Form and the museum does not accept unsolicited donations.

Please note: The Denver Firefighters Museum accepts donations of items on a case-by-case basis and that due to liability, the museum cannot accept items without prior notice. Museum staff are not responsible for unsolicited items mailed to the museum or left on the museum premises, and such items are not guaranteed to be considered or accepted to the collection.
