Fire is a chemical reaction! Learn the science behind fire, how it works, what it needs to burn, and how we can prevent fires with this information. Now on select holiday MONDAYS and Spring Break!

Engineering in the Firehouse
From the days of bucket brigades to the mechanized vehicles we have today, engineers continue to develop new firefighting technologies. Come learn about the history and exciting future of firefighting technology. You’ll even get to design your own special firefighting equipment! Now on select holiday MONDAYS and Spring Break!

2026 childrens fire safety classes
Squirt's Fire Safety Classes
Join us for a fire safety class designed just for preschool-aged children and their adult. These classes teach important fire safety concepts like: My Friend the Firefighter, Crawl Low Under Smoke, and Safe For Play! Keep Away! During each class, we will learn and practice these life-saving concepts through books, videos, and engaging hands-on activities.
Reservations are required to ensure appropriate supplies.
Each class is free with the cost of Museum admission
(Adults: $9.00, Children over 3 years: $7.00, Children under 3 years: Free). Library passes may not be used for museum programs or special events.

Denver First Responders Day!
Visit the museum for FREE on Saturday, August 29th to honor the incredible work our first responders do to keep the community safe! Meet your local first responders from Denver Fire, Rampart Search and Rescue, Denver Police Museum, and Denver 9-1-1. Explore crafts for kiddos and over 160 years of Denver Fire history at the museum.
Please note: First responders and crafts are available from 10 am - 2 pm. The museum will be open for free admission from 10 am - 4 pm.
